Your protagonist’s backstory, secrets, and false belief can come alive when they are tested by the people around them.
We talk a lot about character development as it relates to the protagonist and antagonist, but your supporting characters need development too. They have a part to play not only in how your characters show up in the story but also to reinforce or question the theme of your story.
This week come along as we talk about the importance of supporting characters and how to help them serve their purpose.
Supporting characters should do more than fill space or create fluff in the story. They can and should:
Hold up a mirror.
Push buttons.
Offer temptation or opposition.
Represent alternate answers to the thematic question.
