Being concerned or worried about what other people think about my writing is like a vampire, sucking the last bit of energy out of my words until there is nothing to write. How can you even guess what other’s opinions will be? If and when they do verbalize their thoughts what motivates them to do so?
Why wouldn’t you write what you love?
Never ask yourself - I wonder if what I’ve written is good? Would you delay starting to write because you don’t know if it will be successful? Of course not! You write because you have something to say. You continue writing to work through it. Writing something of value to you is what makes it successful.
What are you curious about? Your authentic interest is all you need to begin . . . . and to continue. Stories do not come from some sort of factory in your mind. They come from the simple pleasure of writing and maybe a simple question of what if? When you translate your thoughts, feelings, imagery, and actions into words, that is when they begin to exist.
So put it into words, write what you are curious about and see where it takes you. For no other reason but the simple pleasure of writing.
